About us

London’s Assisted Semi-independent Housing Alliance (L.A.S.H.A) is a Therapeutic, holistic needs-led, semi-independent provision for young people 16+.

Our provisions and services are own and managed by a Qualified and Registered Social Worker with over 13 years of experience supporting children in areas such as in Child Protection, Fostering and Care Teams and a Qualified Nurse with over 10 years experience including Clinical Management and Sexual Health.

Our main goals and objectives are to support our young people in reaching their potentials in order that they can live successful and fulfilling lives and by doing so we work with Local Authority Children’s Services and Housing Departments to provide suitable accommodation for ‘Looked after Children’ under the Leaving Care Act 2000 and Housing Act 1996.

Disclaimer

We do not provide care as defined by OFSTED, the care we refer to is by way of emotional warmth, availability, trust, family membership, sense of belonging and our commitment to our young people.

'The Rising'
Outreach Mentoring Programme

Making a Difference One Young Person at a Time

We provide Outreach Mentoring to our young people already receiving a service from L.A.S.H.A in addition to young people within the community who are referred for independent living support and guidance.

Our Rising Outreach Mentors are assigned to young people to work intensively with them supporting them to achieve their goals and aspirations so that they can live successful and fulfilling lives.

They provide young people with independent living skills support so that they can learn the basic essentials to becoming self-sufficient.

Tutoring Support

Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow

London's Assisted Semi-independent Housing Alliance understands the power of education and recognises that it is important for all of our young people to have an equal opportunity in how this is received.

We work with Local Authorities, schools and colleges to make this happen to steer our young people away from being labelled as 'NEET'.

We empower our young people with all of the options available to them so that they are able to make an informed decision about their lives and its directions.

We believe that all ' Looked After Children' should be entitled to additional educational support as we recognise from our own experiences supporting young people as well as from government statistics that educational attainment for looked after children is much lower than non-looked after children across all subjects.

Our young people have the opportunity to access in-house 1:1, face to face or virtual tutoring by qualified and experienced secondary school teachers.

We also offer this service to young people in the community and those receiving a service from Children's Social Care.

Therapeutic Support
(Counselling)

Helping young people make sense of their past traumas whilst helping them build a brighter future.

Young people in care are likely to have experienced some form of trauma due to their past experiences, it is however important for us to still recognise that not all young people who have adverse experiences will be traumatised.

Trauma can be displayed through various ways such as through a young persons behaviour and lifestyle, educational attainments, mental health development and relationships for example. Every young person is unique and their responses to the same adversity will differ.

Young people may struggle to manage later traumatic events if they are unable to regulate emotions or acquire reflective skills to make sense of what has happened to them and therefore they need to be helped to work through their trauma so that their developmental and psychological needs are not hindered throughout their lives.

To help our young people develop the skills to manage their emotions, build trust and resilience - We adopt ‘The Secure Base Model’ of therapeutic care-giving as well as having a on-site counsellor who is available to provide in-house counselling to our young people.

Testimonials

What our partners and young people say about us!

"I was really impressed by the placement and think he has the potential to do really well there"

Young Person's Social Worker

"I like the placement, it's nice and clean, all the staff are cool"

Young Person

"I am very satisfied with the quality of the weekly report provided. Also, the key sessions were well written with a keen focus on the young person’s wishes, feeling and lived experience. The report is focused on the young person’s care plan, drawing on strength to maximise engagement.

Another important quality of the Rising is the narrative used to describe the young person, their relationships base/approach of the secure base is effective for my young person.

Young Person's Social Worker

This is the first time he has settled since being in supported accommodation, I am glad that he is no longer being reported missing and is now engaging with staff. He is making progress.
